Although many of us will probably always think of it as the Monterey Historics, this prestigious annual racing event has a new name — the Motorsports Reunion. It hardly matters though, because the event itself hasn’t really changed. Beautiful, rare, and expensive race cars from every era of automotive history, not just on display in a static environment, but being started, revved, driven, and yes, raced on the fabled 2.238 mile long raceway at Laguna Seca. The Reunion is every car lover and gearhead’s dream come true.
A big thanks to our affiliate site BayAreaAutoScene.com for giving us the media passes for this racing weekend. Be sure to visit their site as well in the coming days for more coverage of the Monterey Car Week festivities which include the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Concourso Italiano, various auto auctions, and the Reunion.
The highlights this year included celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Shelby Ford Mustang GT350, with a large contingent of Shelby Mustangs on display, and a breathtaking classic Formula One race with an impressively large race field on the starting grid.
