In light of the recent tragedy involving movie actor and car enthusiast Paul Walker, and also some recent local accidents that I have found out about, I wanted to bring up the issue of safety once more. A friend of ours just informed us that someone on a motorcycle was recently killed on a road that we drive very often as well. Apparently a car slid on the road and struck the motorcyclist, who was taken to the hospital but did not survive. I previously posted near the beginning of summer a rather lengthy essay on the importance of safety and some of the rules we ask everyone to obey when we go on drives together. I think because we see a lot of regulars joining us on the drives, and we have gotten to know each other fairly well, we may cut the “safety talk” short and just start the drives, but please remember that these safety rules and tips are still incredibly important to ensure we are doing what we can both to ensure safety for all and also to protect our good name and reputation as a group. I hope you’ll take the time to reacquaint yourself with these safety rules and tips, or read them carefully if you have never read them before. Please be safe this holiday season, for your sake and for others.
Please be safe out there
